Fantastic news about Blackberry’s newest addition……

It’s been a while (technologically speaking) since the last Blackberry - the Blackberry Curve (8300) and there have been such advances in mobile technology since, that there is now a new addition to the ever popular Blackberry family.

As expected, you will not be disappointed with their offering, so make sure you get a closer look at one before buying anything else.

What’s New Then?
Blackberry have managed to combine all the greatest features of Windows Mobile with the quality and reliability we have got used to with the Blackberry brand.  The result is the new Blackberry Bold.

This was you know that you can now edit your Microsoft Word and Powerpoint documents on the move.   Once you arrive at your office or home, these completed updates can be moved over onto your main PC or Mac without any fuss.  This also means that speeches and presentations can be updated and improved during practice runs or when still on the road.

What Else?
Blackberry have worked hard on making this the most media-friendly release yet with the inclusion of Wifi  - allowing you to access the Internet from virtually millions of locations worldwide (the GPS and mapping functions can help you locate a site!) . Even outside of hot-spot areas, the Bold utilizes HSDPA technology to access nearly 3G download speeds.

Streaming video is also available now, complementing the mp3 player.  And the Media Sync application means that you can easily transfer media files from itunes to your handset with a minimum of fuss.

See more on Blackberry Bold.

Save time on the boring legal parts of your business and get on with the more important things!!!

I was talking to a friend who is running his own small business, and all he seemed to go on about every time we got together - were the boring parts.

He moaned about spending hours at the end of the month ’sorting out the paperwork’, and how staff benefits were of no benefit to him in terms of time.  He spent a long time sorting through the ‘ins and outs’ of all the different things he offers his staff.

The Answer??
I had heard of online personal assistants and other companies that you can outsource things to - like website designers and the like, and so we went online to find a ‘paperwork’ helper.  There was one that stood out.

National PEO were certainly offering everything he needed, and he almost seemed relieved that there was an answer.  ’Now,’ he sighed’ I can actually get on with more important things like that new warehouse!’.

The Facts:
PEO offer all sorts of Human Resource services to both small and large companies, including those mundane chores of ’law compliance’ and ‘job descriptions’ as well as being involved in training and development and employee handbooks as necessary.  They even offer background screening support and help with recruiting if that’s what you need.

The payroll services cover tax payments and general ledger interface, and you can even enter your basic payroll details online so that they can do the rest for you.

National PEO also offer to help with Benefits administration and retirement consults for all staff.  Totally saving you the effort.

They are also well aware of the fact that employers in some states need to verify that all staff are eligible for work there before employing them, so National PEO will e-verify them for you and check all the legal requirements.

Now, my friend can get on with making his business - not just running it.

As accessing the Internet becomes ever more important to us each day, so too does the ability to check our emails and log onto the web from anywhere.

While mobile broadband is now commonplace among the mobile phone networks, these are typically very expensive to run when overseas and in addition the signal strength varies widely making even simple online tasks a chore in many areas.

Now Freedom4Wifi has been launched which promises a simple, cost effective solution to worldwide internet access in the form of wifi hotspots. A single account will enable you access to over 30,000 wifi hotspots around the world including railways stations, airports, hotel chains and coffee shops.

In the UK alone, as an example, you will have access in 12 city centres and 3,000 other areas meaning you should never be far from a hotspot.

Freedom4Wifi currently offer 3 different tariffs, and all of them are free to sign up with initially and come with no long-term commitment or contract.

At the time of writing you could choose to pay 8p per minute (25p outside of the UK), £4.50 for 60 minutes access (with no additional international charges) or £9.99 for 2,000 minutes access in the UK (25p per minute outside the UK).

The system is proving so popular that it has been adopted by both the Daily Express newspaper group and Sharp who use it to help their staff stay in contact at all times and respond to emails in a timely manner.

If you think such a service might be of interest to you, check them out at www.Freedom4Wifi.com today.

Robotic Police and Speed Cameras That Take Money From your Bank Account!

In a recent survey in the UK commissioned to look at crime levels and policing in general, there have been suggestions of the future possibility of ’super’ police men and crime fighting.  Some ideas are merely a decade away but others are way, way way, away. These ‘Crime-fighting’ robots will have unlimited access to citizen databases (like bank accounts, police records and car details) and could be patrolling our streets by 2084, according to an academic at the University of Sheffield.

Who’s The Expert?
According to a robotics expert Professor Noel Sharkey, these humanoid robots, which will apparently be able to actually arrest real people, could be allowed access to the integrated databases regarding British citizens.  This could include including accounts, tax and your business or pleasure travel plans.

Such ’superior knowledge robots’ will, according to the professor - use their super strength and inability to feel pain to arrest drunks, troublemakers and hooligans in the streets!!!

He continues on, saying that these ’street robots’ could have very human features and should easily detect hidden weapons - including guns, knives and explosives.  It is possible that they will also possess spatial and behavioural data that will help them to recognise drunk or aggressive individuals in large areas.

What Else Might There Be?
Its also possible that these street robots will be supported by a fleet of autonomous police vehicles.  These will recognise speeding cars, identify the license plates to find the registered owner - and then have the power to automatically take fines from their main bank account.

It’s possible they will also be able to add points onto their driving licence - although quite how they will identify the actual driver at the time is another question?

The Advent 4211 is certainly different.

With most laptops and notepad computers aiming for smaller and lighter, this aptly names ‘netbook’ could be very popular indeed.

Basically it’s the size of a hardback book and has a very long battery life.  This is ideal if you are on vacation - to keep up with the news and to book trips and accommodation as necessary.

What’s the catch?

This little ‘netbook’ has been specifically designed for Internet users, so it lacks many of the features of larger notepads - it’s a nice little compromise though.

If you mainly want to access the Internet when travelling for work or pleasure, the Advent 4211 has what you need - and not the added weight and processing power you don’t.

It won’t run games and other demanding software that effectively and it doesn’t even have an optical drive for DVD’s - it really has been specifically developed and created for net users.

What’s it Got?

Built around Intel’s new ‘Atom’ chip, it handles Windows XP quickly and reliably, and it’s low power consumption can stretch out the battery time to 3 hours. It is WiFi, Bluetooth and web-cam enabled, and there is 1GB of operating memory to keep things running smoothly.

There is no need to worry about the keyboard on this tiny technology, as it is well spaced and easy to use. Although it comes with little software included, you can easily use free online software like Google Docs if you need to create an immediate document or some business ideas.

Saving them online will also save storage space on the Advent itself for more important information - although it does come with 80GB of hard drive space if needed.

The Advent 4211 is currently for sale for around $560/£280
