Robotic Police and Speed Cameras That Take Money From your Bank Account!

In a recent survey in the UK commissioned to look at crime levels and policing in general, there have been suggestions of the future possibility of ’super’ police men and crime fighting.  Some ideas are merely a decade away but others are way, way way, away. These ‘Crime-fighting’ robots will have unlimited access to citizen databases (like bank accounts, police records and car details) and could be patrolling our streets by 2084, according to an academic at the University of Sheffield.

Who’s The Expert?
According to a robotics expert Professor Noel Sharkey, these humanoid robots, which will apparently be able to actually arrest real people, could be allowed access to the integrated databases regarding British citizens.  This could include including accounts, tax and your business or pleasure travel plans.

Such ’superior knowledge robots’ will, according to the professor - use their super strength and inability to feel pain to arrest drunks, troublemakers and hooligans in the streets!!!

He continues on, saying that these ’street robots’ could have very human features and should easily detect hidden weapons - including guns, knives and explosives.  It is possible that they will also possess spatial and behavioural data that will help them to recognise drunk or aggressive individuals in large areas.

What Else Might There Be?
Its also possible that these street robots will be supported by a fleet of autonomous police vehicles.  These will recognise speeding cars, identify the license plates to find the registered owner - and then have the power to automatically take fines from their main bank account.

It’s possible they will also be able to add points onto their driving licence - although quite how they will identify the actual driver at the time is another question?
